Before becoming a member of the USGTF, Jim Darby worked at Charleston Springs Golf Course in Millstone Township, NJ. While there, under the guidance of Lloyd Monroe, Jim was an assistant at some of the clinics given by the Monmouth County Park System.  

In April '06, during his USGTF Certification, he was Low Medalist for the PAT (Player Ability Test) at Wachesaw Plantation Golf Club in Myrtle Beach, SC.

After becoming a Teaching Professional he worked at Virtual Dunes Golf in Middletown, NJ. He gave private lessons as well as running 8week clinics comprised of 30 kids.
